Grand Prix Championship Round Two - The Results....
The second round of the Championship returned last night (Monday 09 February). A few additional drivers had entered after the first round to spice things up, but a couple of drivers were concerned about the weather and didn't make it.
The excitment and tension was evident as early as the safety briefing with everyone anxious to get started. The co-ordinator called for an increase in competitiveness and that is certainly what he got !!
With the circuit still being slightly wet after the snow from the weekend the lap times were slightly slower than the first round, however all drivers were still very close. As ever the additional five points on offer for the fastest lap of the night (plus bragging rights for next time), was all the incentive required.
The fastest lap of the night went to Driver number 7 (Graham Moore) with a lap time of 1.07.77. In a clean sweep of the fastest laps Graham also posted the second and third fastest laps with times of 1.07.81 & 1.07.86. The next fastest lap was by driver number 9 (Tony Bridge) with a time of 1.07.99.
All those fastest laps couldn't keep Graham in the frame and finished 16 overall on the night. Driver number 3 (John Smith) scored the most points overall on the night with 58 points with Driver number 4 (Dave Keech) scoring 57 and drivers 16 and 19 (Luke Murphy & Paul Clare), scoring 53 points each.

The level of competitiveness certainly increased, but also so has the level of skill in the driving with the co-ordinator commenting afterwards that it was really good to watch the event unfold.
Round Three is set for March 10th and all drivers are sure to be getting in plenty of practice beforehand !!
