Owner Drivers Pro Karting Event – 18 August 2009

If last months race on the full circuit wasn’t exciting enough, the size of this months grid was enough to get the pulse racing.

About a dozen guys turned up for the practice session in the afternoon and as the start of the race loomed, the number of teams kept increasing until we achieved over 30 teams for the second time in three months; indeed this was the highest number we have ever had with 34 teams participating. With several teams not participating through holidays could we see over 40 next time?

The racing itself was close, competitive and up to its usual high standard. P2 Racing eventually took the chequered flag closely followed by McDonald 1, Balmforth Transport, GKD 66 and CPM all of whom were within 40 seconds of the leader. P2 Racing also took the fastest lap with 47.30 but only 0.02 seconds behind were Balmforth Transport.

Anticipation for the September race is now rising and with all these teams the possibility for getting stuck behind the tail-enders increases therefore increasing the openness of the event.

The next event is on Monday 21 September with an arrival time of 17:30. A practice session will be held in the afternoon from 14:00 – 16:00, so book your places early and make sure you are in the thick of things.

Carcoon again took the chequered flag (ad also the fastest lap with a time of 1m2.42seconds; with P2 Racing and GC Racing taking the other podium places.

All eyes now turn to the next race which returns to the Club Circuit on Tuesday 18 August 2009.
