Owner Drivers Pro Karting Event – 21st June 2010

Well, what an excellent evening on Monday. "Only" 30 teams....  never thought we'd imagine that 30 was a low grid ! think we were missing a few who were prepping karts for the Le Mans trip - Dan Willars will be "blogging" again, so keep up to date with events in France at www.kartingnorthwest.com

That first hour on Monday was fantastic - Dan started in the GKD kart, battling hard with Graeme Hunt in the Pitlane 2000 kart and Phil Miles in the CPM kart, with Phil McVay hot on their heels in the GC kart - and a great gaggle of karts not far behind. Pitlane 2000, GKD and GC all swapped to their second drivers at about the one hour mark, while Chris ran Phil on a little to build a small lead. Paul Breuilly of P2, Ian Jackson in Demon Rouge 1 and Bob Quinn of Roch Valley were all single drivers, and did the two hours on their own.

With just minutes of the race left Stuart Hoyle had to retire the GC kart from second with a front wheel off, leaving Chris and Phil Miles to take a well-earned win. As an indication of just how competitive the racing is at the moment 7th to 18th were covered by three laps - very impressive, with 11th to 14th covered by just over 8 seconds !! With Cheng Shin tyres no longer being available, the general consensus at the drivers briefing was that we should move to using Bridgestone YDS, with teams able to use up their Chengs during the rest of the year. Also, don't forget we are on the full circuit next month, so do be aware that the engines will be pulling more revs as we come down the hill past the pit-entrance and adjust your gearing accordingly....

The next event is on Tuesday 20th July on the full circuit with the normal testing being available from 2pm - 4pm prior to the race.
