Local Rider Matt Winstanley Aims for Double Victory at Three Sisters Race Circuit!
11th January 2006
Three Sisters Race Circuit will be hosting the opening round if the 2006 British Supermoto Championship this weekend and local national Champion, Matt Winstanley is looking to build on his 2005 success where he won the 450cc national championship, and came second in his first full assault on the ‘open’ championship.
Riding for the crack KTM factory team, Matt will be dovetailing his racing this year between the British flagship ACU Championship, and the blue riband ‘World Championship.’
‘I’m really excited about this year and am delighted to be kicking off the season on my home track. Three Sisters is one of the top Supermoto circuits in Europe and easily rivals those used in the World Champonships.’ Explained Matt. ‘I won the SM1 championship with a couple of rounds to spare, but lost out on the ‘open’ championship on the final round so I’m pretty determined to secure them both this year!’
Matt, who lives no more than 5 miles from Three Sisters, started racing Motocross at the age of eight years old, is one of the UK’s most promising motorcycle talents, he is widely tipped as a star of the future.
You can cheer Matt on this weekend, a full days racing start at 10am this Sunday, tickets are £10 for adults, and under 16’s go free.
